Your First Meeting Type

This article will explain the basics of how CoRecruit's AI works, and how to write out a prompt

Creating from a Job Description

The easiest way to start is by using an existing Job Description (JD) or a list of interview questions.

  • How to do it: Click the Gear Icon > Meeting Types > Add Meeting Type > From a Job Description.

  • Attach your questions: Upload a PDF containing the questions you plan to ask, a list of topics, a job description, or general guidelines as to how the call will be conducted.

  • AI Processing: The AI will automatically categorize and reword your questions into a format it can best interpret.

If you still feel like the notes could improve we can manually create a meeting type using your custom instructions.

Understanding the Components

Every Meeting Type has three main sections:

  • The Script: This acts as a memo. It is displayed during your live call to remind you of the questions you need to ask.

  • The Notes: These are the specific instructions that tell the AI how to draft the note that will be sent to your ATS (Applicant Tracking System).

  • Follow-up Material: Instructions used to generate long-form documents after the call is over.

The "Student & Test" Analogy

Think of the AI as a student taking a test.

  • The Transcript: This is the "textbook" the student reads to find answers.

  • The Prompt: These are the "test questions/instructions" you provide.

  • The Result: If a topic wasn't discussed in the call, the student can't answer the question accurately.

Prompt Engineering

CAUTION: CoRecruit's notetaker utilizes AI technology, and users should be aware of certain limitations:

  • CoRecruit generates drafts that are approximately 85-90% complete and should be treated as preliminary.
  • Despite the capabilities of the AI, there are inherent limitations that may not be overcome by prompt refinement alone. Users should verify accuracy and completeness independently.
  • The quality of CoRecruit's responses depends on the prompt, and on the content of the call

To use the prompt framework mentioned, you can copy this template:

Notes:

Your job is to answer these questions using the participant's information.
For your response, keep the headers and answer the questions using bullet points:

[Insert list of questions / topics to be discussed]

Any additional information mentioned in the call specify in its own category.

Follow-up Material:

Your job is to create a [document title] using the participant's information.
For your response, use this example:

[Insert document example]

Writing Your First Prompt (The 3 Essentials)

To get the most out of the AI, every manual prompt should include these three elements:

  1. Instruction: Start with the phrase "Your job is..." to define the task (e.g., "Your job is to answer these questions").

  2. Target: Specify whose information to use. Use "The Participant" for the person being interviewed or "The Host" for yourself.

  3. Details/Rules: Start this section with "For your response..." to define the format.

    • Example: "For your response, keep the headers and answer in bullet points".

After structuring your basic system prompt, you can provide the list of questions you're looking to ask, or topics you're looking to cover so the AI knows what direction to take the notes.

You can also add a prompt at the end that says

"Specify any additional information under its own category."

This will help get around recruiters who like to "go with the flow."

Tip: The less characters used in your prompt, the better the AI will understand your request

Tip: To get the best answers, make sure you ask all the appropriate questions in call. Use the script to help guide your questions in call.
